We all have ’em. Some people might feel 100% ready to jump out of bed and straight to the gym every day, and I envy them. It takes a lot of effort to not only get out of my warm cocoon in the morning, but then get myself to put on workout clothes and actually leave my apartment. It’s worth it when it happens, but some days I just. don’t. feel. like. it. And spoiler alert: That’s OK.
Having off days is 100% normal and you shouldn’t ever feel bad about wanting to take a break. Sometimes the thing that’s going to give me the most endorphins is hanging out with my good friend Netflix with a bowl of popcorn in hand. Yeah, sweating feels great, but so does putting on my fuzzy robe and not leaving the couch all night long until I crawl (literally crawl) into bed.
Raise your hand if you’ve had a day like this — I don’t think I’m alone here, guys. Too many off days can unfortunately lead to forgetting you have a gym membership altogether (been there, done that), but don’t feel an ounce of guilt if you need a breather. Believe it or not, a night of R&R can do your mind and body just as good as a workout. If you’re tired and not in the mood, don’t fight it — embrace it. Sometimes the only ab exercise you should be doing is sitting up to grab the remote, and that burn feels just as good.
